In 2012, we invested in three barrels of whisky in an investment scheme being run in Tasmania. While the distillery in question will go unnamed, the following tale will make it obvious to those in the know. These three barrels were initially just that, an investment.

Eight years later, in 2020 fellow investors in the scheme found out that some dastardly acts had occurred. For some, their whisky vanished, but for us we were able to step in and save it. The whisky was quickly transferred into the care of Peter Bignell of Belgrove Distillery fame who generously stored them for us through the times that became COVID.

Around this time it became clear that these barrels were special, and could be more than just an investment. We made the commitment to visit the barrels after the lockdowns, inspect the spirit and see if we could build something from it. We tasted the whisky, sought independent advice, and along with our own experience drinking and enjoying whisky we felt that it was the start of something we could bring to market.

In 2023, the whisky was transferred to Otter Craft Distilling in Sydney. The founder and head distiller Ed has supported us in cutting and bottling the whisky to our specification (built upon our own testing with the support of close friends) and provided valuable advice in bringing this to market. This has formed our first three batches, The Vision, The Enigma and The Middy.

We have now filled five new barrels which will come to fruition in a few years time, this will carry on the Three Realms story and we look forward to creating new expressions of whisky for everyone to enjoy, now and into the future.
